According to the announcement, in order to protect the safety and interests of users and prevent the use of illegal diversion and malicious marketing of medical staff accounts, by April 30, 2023, the Douyin platform will complete the adjustment of the interaction functions between private messages and fan groups of all medical and health authentication accounts (including institutions) in batches, including but not limited to shutting down the exchange of messages, video calls, voice calls, creating new groups and other functions in the private message and fan group scene.

At the same time, in order to meet the needs of doctor-patient communication and provide a safe and controllable path of doctor-patient communication, the Douyin platform encourages medical professionals to authenticate and publish professional, authoritative and useful medical science popularization content. Medical and health authentication accounts are encouraged to use legal and compliant communication channels to communicate with users. Including but not limited to guide users through the hospital official channels, 114 platform, Xiaohe Health and other offline and online ways to achieve doctor-patient communication, registered medical treatment.

Douyin said that since 2022, the Douyin platform has cleaned up and intercepted more than 250000 medical scientific error videos and dealt with more than 1000 illegal accounts. In the future, Douyin platform will continue to strictly investigate and punish illegal diversion practices. Once similar situations are found, the platform will block medical and health authentication accounts in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, platform agreements and rules.
