CTOnews.com, April 11, Microsoft today launched PC Game Pass services in 40 new countries, including many in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. So far, Game Pass services are available in 86 countries, and Microsoft is trying to expand its subscription services beyond the mainframe.

Phil Spencer, chief executive of Microsoft Games, said the growth of Xbox Game Pass's console business was slowing, noting that the company had made "amazing growth in PC". Microsoft said in October that subscriptions to PC Game Pass were up 159 per cent from a year earlier.

As a thank you gift, users who test PC Game Pass in the above new markets will get a free membership for two months. Jerret West, chief vice president of game marketing at Xbox, said: "it will be launched directly in member accounts in the next few days." Microsoft also offers "special welcome discounts" for PC Game Pass in these new markets for the first three months, at prices that vary from country to country.

A few hours ago, Microsoft announced a new cloud gaming partnership with British mobile operator EE. The agreement, which involves Xbox PC games entering EE users, may suggest that Microsoft is ready to bring complete PC games into its Xbox cloud gaming service.
