The memory is made up of a collection of memory cells, arranged in the order of cell numbers. This is a piece of memory that can access data at any time, that is, a memory that can be read (read) or write (store), referred to as RAM storage.

Now the RAM memory used in the single-chip microcomputer belongs to the static RAM or SRAM memory chip, which is different from the memory bar used in the computer. As long as you write the data into SRAM without power outage or erasure, the data will always be saved there. The computer uses a dynamic RAM, which needs to be constantly refreshed to save data.

Because MCU handles much less information than a computer, it also carries less RAM: from nothing, 128,256,. 1K, 2K, and then to 4K, much less than ROM.

Because in fact, RAM is only a temporary storage place for data, unless a large amount of data is needed for image processing. Generally speaking, there are so many MCU microcontrollers that perform relatively simple tasks, but if they are not enough, they can only be extended by additional SRAM such as 6116, 6264, and so on.

In order to access an 8-bit binary number to a RAM memory cell, of course, its location must be marked with an "address" like ROM. If a single-chip microcomputer has 1K (1024) RAM, its address is also from 0000 to 1024, or 0000H to 03FFH in hexadecimal numbers. It can be seen that the address is the same as that of ROM.
