Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, April 11, "World" is South Korea's first "completely independent" carrier rocket, the whole project took about 12 years, with a total investment of nearly 2 trillion won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 10.42 billion yuan).

South Korea's first independently developed carrier rocket, the World, will be launched for the third time (KSLV-II FM3) on May 24, according to South Korea's Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communications. The scheduled launch date is May 24 and the scheduled launch time is 06:24 in the afternoon.

After referring to a number of factors such as the weather conditions at the launch site, the launch window is locked from May 25 to 31. Considering that the World will put a new generation of small satellite 2 into the sun synchronous orbit at an altitude of 550km, the launch time is scheduled to be within 30 minutes of 06:24 in the afternoon.

It is worth mentioning that the series of rockets were launched for the first time on October 21, 2021, but the launch failed to successfully put the analog satellite into orbit because the third stage engine flameout earlier than expected. In follow-up, the series of rockets were successfully launched for the first time on June 21 last year.

According to the inspection results of the launch Management Commission, the World completed the connection between the first and second stages on the 28th of last month and is conducting performance tests.

The "World" will carry a total of eight satellites, including the new generation of small Satellite II, four nanometer satellites of the Korean Astronomical Research Institute, and three satellites of private enterprises Justek, Lumir, and Kairospace. At present, the satellite is undergoing final environmental testing.

Wu Tae-suk, an official of South Korea's Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communications, said that this will be the first trial launch of a practical satellite by the World, and it will also be the first time that private enterprises have participated in the launch process, which is of great significance.

In addition, South Korea also plans to invest 2.13 billion won (CTOnews.com Note: about 11.097 million yuan) to develop the next generation rocket KSLV-3, and is committed to developing a 100t thrust engine fueled by kerosene within five years.
