Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com April 11, Reuters reported that South Korea's antitrust regulators have fined Google 42.1 billion won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 219 million yuan) for blocking game makers from publishing mobile games on rival platforms.

South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) said Tuesday that Google had made the move by requiring game makers to publish games exclusively on Google Play in exchange for offering app exposure between June 2016 and April 2018.

KFTC said the move against Google was part of an effort to ensure a fair market, with game makers affected by Google's restrictions including Netmarble, Nexon and NCSOFT, as well as other smaller companies.

CTOnews.com previously reported that this is not the first time Google has been fined by South Korea. In 2021, Google was fined more than 200 billion won (currently about 1.042 billion yuan) by the KFTC for blocking customized versions of the Android operating system.
