According to the introduction of the concept map of ▲ 3D-SDH to realize realistic 3D holographic projection, the team introduced light scattering into 3D holographic projection technology, overcame the two bottlenecks of depth control of traditional holographic projection technology, and realized ultra-high density 3D dynamic holographic projection. the research results were published online in the international well-known academic journal "Optica" on April 6, 2023 with the title "Ultrahigh-density 3D Holographic Projection by Scattering-assisted Dynamic Holography".
Optica Publishing Group made a special report in the form of News Release on the same day. By incorporating more depth information into holograms, this type of holograms can more realistically reconstruct three-dimensional images for virtual reality and other applications.
In this work, the researchers invented a scattering-assisted 3D dynamic holography (Three-dimensional scattering-assisted dynamic holography, 3D-SDH).
3D-SDH uses the multiple scattering of light to greatly improve the controllable spatial frequency range of the optical system, and develops the speckle field transmission properties to reduce the correlation of light fields in different depth planes, which improves the projection depth resolution based on Fresnel holography by more than 3 orders of magnitude, and greatly suppresses the crosstalk between different projection planes.
In addition, the amplitude, phase and polarization information of the light field are coupled in the scattering process, and 3D-SDH further realizes the three-dimensional dynamic polarization holographic display through a single digital hologram. The 3D-SDH technology proposed in this study can realize three-dimensional dynamic holographic projection with high density, low crosstalk and large viewing angle, and is expected to be used in holographic microscopic imaging, stereoscopic display, projection lithography, information storage, optical micromanipulation and other fields.
