CTOnews.com, April 10, Sinopec announced that the demonstration project of the "hydrogen transmission pipeline from west to east" has been incorporated into the "construction implementation plan" of the national "oil and gas" network, indicating that China's long-distance hydrogen transmission pipeline has entered a new stage of development.

CTOnews.com learned that "sending hydrogen from west to east" starts in Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous region, and ends in Yanshan Petrochemical in Beijing. The pipeline is more than 400km long. It is the first trans-provincial, large-scale, long-distance pure hydrogen pipeline in China. When completed, the pipeline will be used to replace the existing fossil energy hydrogen production and transportation hydrogen in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The pipeline of "sending hydrogen from west to east" is planned through 9 counties and districts in 3 provinces (cities), including Inner Mongolia, Hebei and Beijing. The first phase of the pipeline has a capacity of 100000 tons per year, with a long-term lifting potential of 500000 tons per year. In the future, Sinopec can rely on the branch line and hydrogenation mother station of the "West-to-East hydrogen Transmission" pipeline to help the efficient construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei hydrogen energy corridor and the realization of the "double carbon" goal in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

At present, the total mileage of hydrogen pipelines worldwide has exceeded 5000 km, of which 2720 km have been built in the United States. Sinopec has built Jinling-Yangtze hydrogen pipeline, Baling-Changling hydrogen pipeline project, Jiyuan-Luoyang hydrogen pipeline project, the longest operation time is about 15 years.
