Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, April 10, according to Phoronix, Intel is preparing to add initial support for its next-generation Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPU, such as HD audio support, in the upcoming Linux 6.4 merge window.

Intel will gradually provide support for Meteor Lake, Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake. Meteor Lake support includes the necessary graphics and additional drivers, which will be ready before the latest Linux kernel release, and then gradually turn on Arrow Lake development adaptation.

The Intel Lunar Lake M series id was leaked a few months ago, but there has been no substantial support. This morning, Intel added an Arrow Lake model (0xC6) with x86 and key patches to the Linux 6.3 kernel. This means that Intel developers will use this as a starting point to add future code to the Linux 6.4 kernel and later.

Intel developers are also working to introduce HD audio support for Lunar Lake P chips for Linux 6.4, mainly Intel HDA open source drivers, and to add a new PCI device ID for Lunar Lake (LNL). The company is using the intel-hda code path that has been used since Intel Skylake and will introduce new code to enable newer chips.

According to Intel PPT, Intel will use TSMC's N3 to produce iGPU chips for its Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake consumer processors in 2023 and 2024, but there have been reports that Intel has delayed this plan.

The company recently said that its Arrow Lake will be made up of small chips produced on Intel 20A nodes and TSMC N3E, which will arrive in 2024.

Available and unverifiable information indicates that Intel Arrow Lake processor desktop chips can provide up to 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, and consumers can use up to 32 threads.

The Intel Arrow Lake processor is likely to be the 15th generation and is expected to use the LGA 1700 platform like Alder Lake and Raptor Lake, with the same package, socket and pin layout as the previous generation (Meteor Lake, or MTL-S).

However, it is also reported that the Arrow Lake-S will use LGA 1851 slots, supporting motherboards including Intel Z890, B860 and H810 CTOnews.com believe that Intel should limit motherboard compatibility even if it does not change pins, but the exact details remain to be known.
