"There is no inspiration to go out and take photos. I feel like I have encountered a bottleneck."

Many people feel that they have no way to start after they have just started learning photography or studied for a while. Their shooting ability has not improved, and they even feel that they are still regressing.

Such a bottleneck period is a very normal phenomenon in the process of learning photography. To avoid this situation, on the one hand, we need to constantly improve our aesthetics, on the other hand, we need to constantly exercise our shooting ability.

Today, I recommend a few practical skills to exercise your shooting ability:

1. When we go out to shoot, we add limited shooting conditions to ourselves, which can stimulate us to think constantly and improve our shooting proficiency and understanding ability.

(1) Limited number of shots Many people inadvertently take a large number of photos when they go out to take photos, especially when traveling, but rarely check them later. Even if they look through them, they can't pick out a few satisfactory photos.

If you have the above situation, you may wish to limit the number of shots you take the next time you go out, such as only 50 or 100 shots, so that we will consciously think when shooting: Is this place worth shooting? How can I make it look better without wasting my chance?

In fact, we are also very clear that every time we go out to shoot, it is good to pick out 10 out of 100 photos, and to limit the number of times we can cherish each shooting opportunity, make the shooting process interesting and post-finishing will not be very troublesome.

(2) Limit the shooting theme When we feel that there is no particularly satisfactory scene around us, we can assign ourselves a shooting theme, and all the shooting today should be carried out around this theme.

If it is spring, we can assign ourselves to shoot only spring-themed photos, which also encourages us to think while shooting.

We can also limit other topics according to personal style and interests, such as shooting only animals, only scenery, only people, etc.

(3) Limited shooting color Limited shooting color is also a very interesting shooting idea.

We rarely pay attention to a certain color in our daily life. If we hold the idea of mining color to shoot, our observation will be further improved, and we will find many interesting things, and we can also connect a series of photos of ourselves, which is more interesting.

2. Imitation should not be too resistant to imitation. Many excellent photographers will openly admit that some of their works are inspired by other people's works, which is actually a kind of imitation.

You can pay attention to some "cutting-edge photography" in recent years. In fact, there is no "innovation" in essence, because after so many years of development of photography, almost all the creativity and style we can think of have been developed more or less, so imitation is a good learning.

So how do we imitate it? What exactly should I imitate?

(1) Composition We usually think good-looking photos, or we have our own favorite style, whether posters, movie screenshots or paintings, can be saved, often take out to see.

When we look at it, we can analyze it from the perspective of photography: what kind of composition do these works use? Three points or center or symmetry, etc.; why use this composition? What's in it for you? Is there anything like this around me? If I want to shoot a certain kind of scene, how should I use its composition?

In the actual shooting, we can also recall these works, or directly to the works to copy, we in the process of operation, the knowledge in the works will gradually be transformed into our own understanding.

(2) Light and shadow are the same as composition. Excellent light and shadow are also worth collecting and reviewing.

When looking at light, we can think about whether the light is a single ray or a multi-angle ray. Natural light or artificial light? Strong light or soft light? What was the effect of this shadow?

After understanding and thinking above, we can think about how to reproduce this light, how to discover and use it during the shooting process.

(3) Color is more straightforward than the above, and we are easier to understand.

It is recommended that you do not focus all on one or several colors in excellent works, because the scenes are different and the colors cannot be completely restored.

What we need to pay attention to is the color collocation and the connection between color and theme, such as color transition, adjacent color collocation, complementary color collocation, and the meaning behind the color, what relationship it has with the overall theme of the photo.

Take the above photo as an example. The main color of this photo is green. Green can show the natural and fresh feeling. It can be seen that this photo was taken in a place similar to the suburbs. Green can show this environment very well.

The photos are mainly composed of adjacent colors, dark green, grass green, yellow green, etc., which can not only strengthen the fresh, natural and harmonious theme, but also make the picture appear concise and layered as a whole;

The clothes of the characters are unified in white, white can also show freshness and simplicity, and will be more conspicuous against the green. The white and green matching is also classic, showing a sense of leisure and harmony between man and nature as a whole.

Pressing the shutter and operating the camera is just a technical job. It is important that we keep thinking during the shooting process and let the camera become the output tool of our thoughts.
