How to take good-looking still life photos, the most important thing is to learn to display and composition. Today, I would like to share with you some composition skills.

This is a strawberry photo I took at home. We can divide the photo into three parts: the main body, the companion and the background.
The main body is this bowl of strawberries, which is what we want to shoot. The companion is the strawberries scattered around, and it is the element that appears together with the main body. The background is the desktop, the shooting environment, and the elements that can be seen in addition to the main body.

After determining the subject, find the appropriate background around the subject (in still life photography, I simplified the background and environment as a concept, other teachers may have different), and put the subject in it.
At this time, the picture is too monotonous, too monotonous photos like a bare mountain, can not become a scenic spot, because of the lack of repeated viewing value. Therefore, we also need to add companion elements to enrich the content of the picture.
When all the elements are basically determined, the placement position needs to be adjusted repeatedly in order to get the best visual effect. You may also want to go back to the previous step to add or subtract some elements to make the composition look better.
02, shooting angle and background I personally divide the shooting angle of still life photography into three kinds: vertical downward shooting, horizontal forward shooting, and high-angle overshooting between the two.
When shooting vertically down, the background is the desktop. At this time, all the elements on the table are on the same plane, which can also be understood to be as close to the camera, so it is difficult to distinguish between primary and secondary in terms of distance. Therefore, the choice of the subject should be larger than the companion, or put the subject in the middle and the companion in the corner, so that the primary and secondary can be clearly defined.
▲ is the same as vertical down shooting, the background is simple and horizontal, you can see not only the desktop, but also the background behind the elements, both of which should be carefully studied. When shooting horizontally, the distance from each element to the camera is different, some far and some near. Distance affects the degree of emptiness, so there are virtual ones and real ones, so it is easy to distinguish between primary and secondary.
High-angle overshoot, the background is only the desktop, it is easier to control. At the same time, the distance from each element to the camera is different, and the size, virtual, and position are all changed, and it is easy to distinguish between primary and secondary. This shooting angle takes into account the advantages and disadvantages of the previous two shooting angles.
Continue to share with you some tips that I can only blame for summing up in the shooting. When patting vertically down, the companion can reveal only a small part. When shooting horizontally, there must be a height difference between objects in order to make the photo hierarchical. If there is no height difference, you can pad a prop. When shooting in oblique direction, it is not recommended to add too much companion in front of the main body, as the front is close to the lens and is easy to grab the lens.

There are many lines in life, the corners of food utensils, the edge of the table, and so on. The point is how to find them. It can be found by means of scene range, shooting distance, different focal length, special angle, occlusion truncation and so on.
▲ is good at finding lines to enrich the picture and finally put it, or composition. Simplify all elements into geometric shapes and arrange them according to diagonals, triangles, circles, semicircles, etc. When the subject is not prominent enough, you can put the subject on the props. When the companion grabs the scene, it can be virtual, or its position can be changed.
