Thank you CTOnews.com netizen Mr. Aviation for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com April 9, 2016-SK On Korea expects to double the capacity of its Seosan plant than originally planned, according to TheElec. The South Korean battery maker had planned to target an annual capacity of 10GWh, but has now increased it to more than 20GWh, at least four times higher than the plant's current capacity of 5 GWh.

SK On started producing electric vehicle batteries in 2014 and expanded the plant further in 2015 and 2016. The company will decide which equipment manufacturers to use for expansion in the first half of this year. The equipment will be delivered within the year, and SK On plans to start commercial production next year.

CTOnews.com inquired about public information and found that SK On mainly manufactures power batteries with a length of 350mm and a height of 70mm for modern cars. These batteries will be manufactured using the z-stack method, in which battery materials are stacked layer by layer, for the E-GMP platform of modern automotive design.
