Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Coje_He and soft media users 2117610 for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com, April 9 (Xinhua) Tesla was sued in a class action in the United States after his employees were accused of sharing private photos and videos taken by customers' car cameras.
The case was brought by Henry Yeh on behalf of anyone who owns or rents Tesla's car since 2019. Tesla employees have viewed and shared images taken by customers' car cameras in violation of privacy laws, according to a report by Reuters. These images contain data about the location of the shoot, allowing employees to determine the address and possible identity of individual Tesla owners. The lawsuit alleges that Tesla violated the California Constitution, privacy laws and privacy policies, and misled customers about the use of data. Tesla's website claims that its camera was "designed from scratch to protect your privacy".
Reuters also disclosed that between 2019 and 2022, Tesla employees privately shared videos and pictures recorded by customers' car cameras through an intercom system. Some of the videos are highly intrusive and capture images of Tesla's clients in embarrassing situations. The report quoted a former employee as saying that there was a video showing a naked man walking towards a car. Other videos shared by Tesla employees include car crashes and road rage, and a 2021 crash video shows a Tesla driving at high speed in a residential area and hitting a child on a bicycle.
Tesla's "customer privacy statement" said that its "camera video remains anonymous and will not be associated with you or your vehicle." However, seven former employees told Reuters that the computer program they used at work could show the location of the video and may have revealed where Tesla's owner lived. A former employee also said that some of the videos appeared to have been taken when the car was parked and stalled. According to CTOnews.com, a few years ago, Tesla could receive video recordings from his vehicle even when the car stalled if the owner agreed, but Tesla has since stopped doing so.
