CTOnews.com, April 8, Google officially announced today that it will no longer support third-party smart display (Assistant Smart Displays). Google stopped developing the underlying system in February 2019, so it has long been foreseen to stop supporting it.

Important: Google no longer provides software updates for the following third-party smart displays: Lenovo Smart Display (7-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch), JBL Link View and LG Xboom AI ThinQ WK9 Smart Display. This may affect the quality of video calls and conferences.

Google first launched Assistant Smart Displays at the CES show in January 2018. Three of the models, the LG ThinQ WK9, Lenovo Smart Display 8Compact 10 and JBL Link View, went on sale in 2018, while the most recent is the 7-inch model launched by Lenovo in 2019.
