Samsung is expected to implement similar upgrades on the next-generation smartwatches Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

Ice Universe (@ UniverseIce), the whistleblower, said Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 series had improved screen size and resolution. Galaxy Watch 6 will be available in both 40mm and 44mm sizes.

The 40mm version of Galaxy Watch 6 will have a 1.31in display with a resolution of 432x432. This is a big improvement over the 1.2in screen of the Galaxy Watch 5, which has a resolution of 396 x 306 pixels. The 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 6 will have a 1.47inch round OLED screen with a resolution of 480x480. The 44mm Galaxy Watch 5 has a 1.4in screen and a resolution of 450x450.

The 40mm version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series will increase its screen size by 10% and its resolution by 19%. For the 44mm version of Galaxy Watch 6, Samsung will increase the screen size by 5%, but improve the resolution by about 13%. As a result, the visual effects of Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are expected to be slightly sharper, despite an increase in screen size. It remains to be seen whether these higher-resolution displays will be driven by more powerful chipsets.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series is expected to bring health and fitness tracking features similar to the Galaxy Watch 5 series, including accelerometers, blood pressure monitoring, barometers, body composition analysis, ECG, GPS, heart rate monitors, SpO2 measurements, sleep tracking and exercise tracking. The Galaxy Watch 6 series may also be designed with MIL-STD-810G and have IP68 dustproof and waterproof grades. Connection features may include GPS, NFC, and Wi-Fi.
