Disney Entertainment (Disney Entertainment) announced today that Joe Earley, president of its video business Hulu, has been promoted to president of Disney's face-to-face consumer and entertainment business.

The department is mainly responsible for streaming services including Disney+ and Hulu. Michael Paull has been president of the division since January 2022. Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, co-chairmen of Disney Entertainment, said Paull will leave the company after Earley, who has been at Disney for six years, will leave the company.

Earley will report directly to the two co-chairs. He will continue to lead the Hulu business until a new successor is found.

Earley joined Disney in January 2019 and is responsible for the marketing and operation of Disney + in preparation for the launch of the service in November of that year.

Earley's promotion is noteworthy as Disney is weighing whether to buy the rest of Hulu or sell it to Comcast or other buyers. Comcast currently owns 33 per cent of Hulu.

Similarly, Paull's departure is worth remembering. He had previously reported to Kareem Daniel, the core deputy of former Disney CEO Bob Chapec (Bob Chapek), who was fired in November.

Since returning to the CEO role, Bob Bob Iger has rescinded the organizational structure established by Chappeke, including the dissolution of Disney's media and entertainment distribution division. Mr Iger has said he wants to return control to the company's creative executives.

This is also part of Iger's plan to cut 7000 jobs and cut costs by $5.5 billion. Iger said on March 28 that employees had been informed of the first round of major layoffs and that a larger second round of layoffs would take place in April, while a third round of layoffs would take place before the start of the summer, with a total of about 7000 layoffs after the three rounds.
