Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, April 5, many Windows 11 users have encountered a confusing Bug that fails to detect TPM modules on some processors, especially the AMD R7 5800X3D, which is very popular among gamers, causing some trouble for those who want to upgrade Win11 legally.
A large number of Windows users reported to Neowin that they had encountered a problem that, for some reason, PC could not pass the "TPM authentication" and PC could not install and run Windows 11 properly, mostly on the AMD platform and a few on the Intel platform. Among them, 5800X3D seems to be more vulnerable than other processors. In some cases, users say they can authenticate with TPM after switching to a different CPU.
One person who encountered the Bug wrote: "after upgrading my CPU from Ryzen 5 2600 to Ryzen 7 5700X, the Windows security chip application reports' authentication: not supported', but the settings show that the TPM module is ready." He added: "when I switched back to the old Ryzen 5 2600, everything was fine."
Another affected user on Reddit upgraded from 5800X to 5800X3D and said: "I have searched the Internet and found that a lot of people have the same problem when using 5800X3D, and no one knows why or how to fix it. Some people do buy a separate TPM module (and solve it), but why would I do it when Ryzen 5800 has an onboard (CTOnews.com Note: most motherboards can enable fTPM support)?"
Microsoft is aware of this problem, and officials have pointed out that AMD's TPM authentication may fail with the error code "0x80070490", but there is no solution for the time being:
TPM certification does not apply to AMD platforms using ASP fTPM TPM certification for AMD platforms using ASP firmware TPM may fail with error code 0x80070490 on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. There are currently no updates available to resolve this issue.
TPM proof failed, error code 0x81039001 in Windows Autopilot pre-provisioned technician flow or self-deployment mode, some devices may intermittently cause TPM proof to fail, error code 0x81039001 E_AUTOPILOT_CLIENT_TPM_MAX_ATTESTATION_RETRY_EXCEEDED. This failure occurs in the secure hardware step for Windows Autopilot devices deployed in self-deployment mode or preprovisioned mode. Subsequent preconfiguration attempts can solve this problem.
