According to CTOnews.com on April 5, Tesla is taking a unique approach to his legal affairs, and the company is building a "comprehensive internal litigation and trial team", according to Brandon Ehrhart, general counsel and company secretary of the company, announced on LinkedIn.

CTOnews.com noted that Tesla's legal team had gradually taken shape over the past few years, thanks to a tweet posted by CEO Elon Musk in mid-2022, saying the company would set up a "tough litigation department" to initiate and enforce lawsuits.

The Tesla litigation team was formed shortly after Musk posted Twitter, and Tesla hired Adam Mehes and Ehrhart to join the legal department, which joined Tesla in February this year.

"Tesla's legal department is creating something unique: a comprehensive internal litigation and trial team, where all aspects of litigation and trial can be handled entirely by insiders, including written statements, hearings, evidence collection, witness questioning and trial," Ehrhart wrote on LinkedIn.

This is an unusual way of dealing with legal affairs. Many Tesla supporters have been calling for the company to set up a public relations team to deal with reports that are false and tarnish the image of the carmaker, while Tesla seems to be taking direct punitive measures against the media that publish false stories.

The internal team was also announced at an interesting time when, just over the weekend, Tesla released its quarterly production and delivery figures, and although Tesla exceeded FactSet's forecast of 420000 deliveries, some media tried to downplay the result as a negative story.

"Tesla has been mercilessly attacked from all sides, so I think we have to have a strong litigation team to fight back," Musk said in an interview last year. "A lot of very talented lawyers have sent us their resumes and we are screening them."
