CTOnews.com, April 4 (Xinhua)-- display analyst Ross Young reiterated today that Apple's MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models will not offer OLED display technology until 2026.

In a tweet, Young shared a new report from Reuters detailing Samsung's $3.1 billion investment in OLED production in Asan, South Korea, and said the facilities would be used to make OLED displays for MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models from 2026.

Last month, Young said that the MacBook Pro is unlikely to adopt OLED displays before 2026, when Apple's supply chain is expected to have enough laptops to optimize OLED display production. Until then, Young says, suppliers will focus on tablet OLED displays, such as the iPad Pro.

In the same report, Young explained that the first OLED Mac device is expected to be the MacBook Air with a slightly smaller 13.4-inch display. At the same time, it is reported that Samsung has begun to develop an OLED display, which will be used in future MacBook Air models.

In addition to the 2026 time frame, the message also indicates that while Apple wants to move away from Samsung's display and switch to its own custom MicroLED technology, Samsung shows that it will play an important role in providing OLED panels for Apple's next generation of devices-helping to launch 11.1-inch iPad Pro, 13.4-inch MacBook Air and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
