Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, April 4 (Xinhua) Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China's manned space program, said on the CCTV program that China is developing a sky survey telescope, which is expected to detect 42% of the sky. In the future, we can also get a complete picture of the universe through survey telescopes, which will play an important role in the study of dark matter, dark energy and other astronomy.
The Survey Telescope (CSST) is the most important space science facility in China's space station project. It is a new generation of flagship space astronomical telescope with the largest scale and the most advanced index in China. It will also be one of the most important space astronomical observation instruments in the world in the next decade.
According to reports, the scientific research work of CSST will involve the frontier hot directions and major scientific issues in the field of astronomy, such as dark matter, dark energy, cosmology, the origin and evolution of galaxies, stars, solar system and exoplanets.
The image quality and resolution of the survey telescope are similar to those of the Hubble telescope, but the field of view of the survey telescope can be more than 300 times that of the Hubble telescope (CTOnews.com reminder: Hubble launched in 1990 is the first optical infrared space telescope, while the sky survey is the first optical space telescope, so it is difficult to compare by parameters), because it uses the off-axis three-reflection optical path scheme. The Hubble telescope uses the Rmurc Cassegrain Telescope (a telescope made up of two mirrors), so it has a wider field of view.
In addition to the main mirror, the survey telescope is also equipped with some back-end modules, including coronometer, terahertz, multi-channel imager and so on, through the joint work of these modules to achieve scientific goals. The optical facilities of the survey telescope are installed on an optical module platform, which flies in the same orbit with the space station of our country.
As the optical module of the Chinese space station, the Survey Space Telescope will be equipped with a 2-meter optical system and a series of state-of-the-art detectors. The telescope is the size of a bus, stands three stories high and weighs more than ten tons. The Sky Survey Space Telescope is mainly divided into two parts, including the sky survey optical facilities and the sky survey platform, which is expected to be put into scientific operation before 2024. The planned mission life is 10 years, but the life can be continuously extended through maintenance.
In the stage of application and development of the space station, the scientific experimental cabinets arranged inside the space station and large-scale extravehicular loading facilities will also be used to carry out larger-scale space research experiments and new technology experiments. It mainly involves many fields, such as space life science and human body research, microgravity physics science, space astronomy and earth science, new aerospace technology and so on.
It is worth mentioning that the survey telescope can not only achieve wide-area sky survey, but also carry out extreme depth observation for specific targets, and can achieve extreme depth imaging observation of 400 square degrees.
It is worth mentioning that the first annual scientific meeting of the China Space Station Survey Telescope was held in Beijing from March 27 to April 1, when more than 600 representatives from 59 participating units, including the China manned Space Project, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and universities, gathered together to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on CSST's scientific mission, technological innovation, data processing and analysis.
The conference consists of a two-day report meeting and a three-day branch discussion. The contents include cosmology, galaxies and active galactic nuclei, galaxies and neighboring galaxies, stars, solar systems and exoplanets, covering research results in various fields. Chen Jiansheng, Li Tibei, Jing Yipeng and Han Zhanwen, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, were invited to attend the conference and gave a wonderful report, which fully demonstrated the expectation and attention of the scientific community to CSST.
In addition, Academician Chen Jiansheng made a special report entitled "the publicity and sociality of the Telescope Survey of the Chinese Space Station," which pointed out the direction for the public and social dissemination and promotion of CSST in the future. The participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions to make preparations for the next step of more rational and effective use of telescopes, early results, more results, good results, and great results.
