MacRumors reports that Apple's current weather data provider is experiencing problems, causing many users to be unable to view real-time weather forecasts for selected areas in the weather app.

According to Apple's system status page, Apple is currently trying to fix problems with its weather service, although the problem summary lists only Alaska's precipitation for the next hour as unavailable "due to data provider outages," when in fact weather services for many regions and forecast categories are experiencing outages.

Apple said the issue affecting "some users" began about five hours ago and "continues to occur."
