The summary shows that the present disclosure relates to hinges for folding display devices. A foldable display device may have a housing portion connected by a hinge. The hinge may have a series of interconnecting connectors. The connector can be formed by a cross finger member in the friction clutch. The finger or other part of the connector may be provided with a crescent-shaped groove with a receiving pin. During the folding of the device, the pins can slide along the crescent groove, thereby ensuring that the adjacent connectors rotate relative to each other around the rotation axis located outside the hinge and within the flexible display panel. The connector may also be formed by a connector member having a bending fit support surface, which slides relative to each other when the adjacent connector rotates relative to each other. A set of gears extending between the first housing portion and the second housing portion may be used to form a housing rotation synchronization mechanism.

According to the manual, the device can be a cellular phone, tablet computer, wristwatch device or other wearable device, television, stand-alone computer monitor or other monitor.

Apple has previously obtained a number of patents for folding screen devices, including automatically folding the screen to minimize screen damage when detecting that the iPhone / iPad with a flexible screen is falling.
