The story begins with Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson Dwayne Johnson), a demigod who lives in the wind and sea, who steals the heart of the goddess Tefiti, causing the magma devil Urka to go crazy and the small islands of the South Pacific facing the threat of destruction. More than a thousand years later, Moana, the daughter of a sheikh on an island (voiced by Orii Caravajo Auli'i Cravalho), grew up under the care of her parents. In her childhood, she stumbled upon the heart of Teffiti and was summoned by the sea, but her father strictly forbade Moana to go to sea, even though the island was threatened with death. Moana learned about the history of her people from her grandmother, so in order to save the island, she still went out to sea to find Maui trapped somewhere so that he could return the heart of Teffiti. After many hardships, Moana finally met the legendary arrogant demigod. Maui, on the other hand, refused to go because he was worried that the heart of Teffiti would bring bad luck.

But under the guidance of fate, Maui embarked on an unknown journey with Moana.
