CTOnews.com, April 4 (Xinhua)-- Apple and MASIMO are engaged in a fierce court battle over whether certain functions and designs of the Apple Watch are infringed, and the two sides have entered the final heated stage, according to Bloomberg.

Tamlin Bason, an analyst with Bloomberg, predicts that the patent dispute between the two companies could involve $1 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 6.88 billion yuan).

The jury will begin a 10-day jury at the District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday, in which Apple CEO Tim Cook is likely to testify.

Masimo first sued Apple in 2020, alleging that Apple Watch infringed 10 patents and allegedly stole trade secrets by hiring key people. Subsequently, Masimo sued again in 2021 and specifically pointed out that the sale of Apple Watch Series 6 should be banned because the device infringed five patents on blood oxygen measurement technology.

Apple also filed two lawsuits in 2022, accusing Masimo of infringing several patents on its W1 smartwatches. Apple said it was in the previous lawsuit that Masimo "carefully studied Apple's intellectual property" and obtained confidential information.
