CTOnews.com April 4 news, recently Microsoft online collaboration platform Teams public preview version launched a new feature: green screen (green screen). This feature is designed to improve the clarity of the background around the user's face, head, ears and hair to improve the existing virtual background.

This feature works best with professional green screens, but users can also achieve similar effects with solid walls behind them or clear backdrops. Jan Steberl, Microsoft Teams project manager, said in a blog post: "The curtain or backdrop must be flat and free of stains, bumps or hanging objects. Users must apply background effects in Teams meetings to enable green screen effects, and background colors should be carefully chosen to apply effects correctly and achieve better quality. "

To use the green screen feature, users need to join a Teams meeting first, then click the "More" icon in the meeting toolbar and select "Video Effects." Then, in the "Video Effects" panel page, go to "Green Screen Settings" in the "Background" section, and click the link to open the green screen switch button under "Team Settings-> Equipment-> Green Screen." Users can then manually select the color of the wall behind them by clicking on the background icon in the lower right corner of the preview window, or green if there is a dedicated green screen.

Microsoft says this feature is currently only supported on Windows and macOS devices and requires Intel chips. That rules out any laptops that use AMD chips, and Macs running M1 or M2 chips. In addition, the green screen feature disables background blur and currently does not support Together Mode.

CTOnews.com understands that this feature is now available to all Teams public preview users.
