Arm architecture officially entered the Arm v9 era in 2021, which not only brings new vitality to the PC market, but also stimulates the new demand of the whole Arm PC industry chain.

First of all, with the continuous development of Arm PC, the need for Arm PC to start architecture standardization arises at the historic moment. Especially at the firmware level, as the standard interface between the hardware platform and the operating system, UEFI and ACPI need multi-party adaptation and optimization, and then improve the current standards, which will further shorten the debugging cycle of Arm PC research and development, help machine manufacturers to quickly launch the whole machine products based on Arm CPU, and accelerate the popularity and ecological growth of Arm PC.

Secondly, for the Linux desktop operating system, graphics ability is very important. As a standard graphics library, OpenGL occupies an important position in the Linux ecology. There is an urgent need for dedicated NPU processors and software frameworks to provide more efficient end-to-side AI processing capacity and reduce CPU, GPU load and power consumption.

Recently, this core technology has successfully run the deepin kernel on the Arm v9 platform and supports the UEFI+ACPI standard boot architecture. With the establishment of the deepin community Arm PC SIG, this core technology, together with Amou Technology and the deepin community, will further deepen cooperation in the deepin community based on this core technology hardware platform and around the integration and innovation of CPU+GPU+NPU.

At the CPU level, Arm PC SIG will jointly improve and optimize the relevant features of Arm v9 architecture on this core technology product, as well as the support of ACPI, to support the basic capabilities of operating system startup and hardware platform function calls.

At the GPU level, the support of Linux desktop graphics stack is also the focus of subsequent Arm PC SIG cooperation, including Wayland / XWayland window system, OpenGL typical application support and so on, to prepare for the adaptation of more applications.

At the NPU level, the current support of AI on the Linux desktop operating system is relatively limited. Arm PC SIG will promote the support of the Linux desktop operating system for AI software frameworks and applications, and give full play to the processing power of this core technology smart chip to explore new PC NPU scenarios to bring users a better product experience.
