April 3, according to Businesskorea, LG, a panel maker owned by LG, shows that it is accelerating the restructuring of its business from TV and display panels to those needed for smartphones and cars.

Foreign media reported that panel sources said that mobile device panels, including smartphones and cars, were expected to account for more than 40 per cent of LG's April sales for the first time.

Panel sources also said that for the whole of this year, sales of panels needed for LG display smartphones and cars will rise sharply, and are expected to reach 10 trillion won, or about $7.6 billion, the biggest increase since 2021.

In the panel business of LG display, the panel needed for smartphones is currently mainly the OLED panel supplied for Apple's iPhone.

LG's share has been growing since it entered Apple's iPhone supply chain and is now expected to account for about 18 per cent, but is expected to rise to 28 per cent in the iPhone 15 series to be launched in the second half of this year.

With the improvement of automobile intelligence, automobile panel business has also become an important development direction of LG display. Industry experts expect sales of the LG display car panel business to reach 3.5 trillion won in 2025, double that of 2022. Foreign media also mentioned in the report that LG showed that it received orders for car panels of 4-5 trillion won last year, an increase of about 40 percent over the same period last year.
