CTOnews.com, April 3 (Xinhua)-- StatCounter released operating system market share data for March 2023, which showed that Windows 11's market share reached an all-time high in March 2023, with one in five Windows computers running Microsoft's latest operating system.

Data show that in the Windows market, Windows 11's market share rose to 20.94% from 19.13% in February, an increase of 1.81 percentage points. Windows 10 also grew, but not as much as it did in February, when Microsoft stopped supporting security updates for Windows 7 and 8.1. Windows 10 still accounts for the largest share, at 73.48%, an increase of 0.17% over the previous month.

CTOnews.com noted that as Microsoft announced the end of the extended Security Update (ESU) program for Windows 7 and 8.1, users began to "escape" the two older versions of the system more quickly. Windows 7's market share fell to 3.72% in March, down 1.62% from February. Windows 8.1 currently has a share of only 0.84%, down 0.3 percentage points from February.

In terms of all operating systems (including Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux, etc.), Windows is still the second most popular operating system, with a market share of 28.29% after Android,Windows, an increase of 0.56 percentage points over last month.
