Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Rangers for their attitude clues to delivery! On April 3, the New York Times lost Blue V on Twitter because it said it would not pay to maintain its certification status.

Twitter announced that Blue V certification will be part of paid subscriptions from April 1 and will begin to remove certificates from accounts that do not pay. The New York Times and several other organizations and celebrities said they would not pay for the Blue V certification.

This triggered Elon Musk to launch a series of insults to the newspaper. Musk wrote on Twitter: "the real tragedy of @ NYTimes is that their propaganda is not even interesting." He added: "in addition, their tweets are equivalent to diarrhea. I can't read it."

Twitter has not made an official comment, and the New York Times did not respond to Musk's comments.

According to Twitter's new rules, Blue V that once showed official verification accounts will begin to be deleted from accounts that have not been paid for. Organizations seeking certification must pay a monthly fee of $1000 to obtain the Yellow V mark, while individual accounts must pay a monthly fee of $8 to obtain a Blue V.

Subscription services will generate revenue for Twitter, but there are concerns that without a verification process, it will be difficult to distinguish between real accounts and impostors.

In addition to not paying for subscriptions, the New York Times said it would not pay a verification fee for its reporter's Twitter account, unless in "rare circumstances, this identity is critical to reporting," a spokesman said.

The newspaper, which has nearly 55 million Twitter followers, lost its certification mark after the announcement. However, it is not clear whether all organizations must register for subscription services to maintain authentication.

The 10, 000 organizations with the most followers on Twitter will be exempt from the rule, citing an internal document from Twitter, the New York Times reported.

Since December last year, Twitter has introduced authentication in three different colors: gold V for business organizations, Grey V for government affiliated accounts or multilateral organizations, and Blue V for personal accounts.

Many news organizations, including CNN, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post, said they would not pay for Twitter certification, but now they all have Golden V.

Gold V is also available in other New York Times accounts, such as New York Times Art and New York Times Travel.

The removal of Blue V seems to be gradually under way. This may be because it is mainly a manual process, the Washington Post quoted former employees of the company as saying.

Celebrities like American basketball star LeBron James say he won't pay for Twitter certification, but he still has a Blue V. The same is true of American rapper Ice-T, who also criticized the new charging system.
