AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processors are three years old and have been known for budget values for years. Although the processor was originally based on the 14 nm Zen 1 architecture, AMD quietly provided it with a 12 nm Zen1 upgrade. These updated Ryzen 3 1200 AF processors have been sold to many retailers in Germany for a low price of 54.73 euros (about $60).

The low cost of this quad-core processor and AMD's updates to its Zen architecture provide many reasons to buy this entry-level chip for cheap PC manufacturing. It seems AMD's official specifications for this processor are the same as previous versions. This includes a base clock of 3.1 GHz and an enhanced clock of 3.4 GHz, meaning the updated processor has the same TDP at 65 watts as the original Ryzen 3 1200.

Compared to the original Ryzen 3 1200, the code of the Ryzen 3 1200 AF processor is different. The old processor was code-named Summit Summit, while the newer processor was code-named Pinnacle Ridge. When comparing two processors, different architectures produce different code names. Because the architecture of the Ryzen 3 1200 AF is relatively new, the Ryzen 3 1200 AF may have a faster Turbo clock, faster cache, and better memory controller. The updated memory controller provides better support for faster DDR4 RAM modules.

The updated processor part number is yd1200 bbm4 mkabox, which differs from Ryzen 3 1200 part number yd1200 bbm4 mkabox. The only difference between these part numbers is the 4KAF or 4KAE part of the part number. This means buyers need to make sure the Raylon 3 1200 processor has an updated part number.

Currently, the original Ryzen 3 1200 is sold by Corn Electronics on Newegg for $119.90, well above the estimated price of around $60 after the updated processor.
