Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Wu Fei brother's left hand clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 31 news, operating system open source community OpenCloudOS officially released the first full self-research community version 9.0 (hereinafter referred to as OC 9.0). This version is jointly developed and maintained by more than ten enterprises such as Tencent for a long time. Its kernel and user-mode software are independently selected and evolved, and the whole link of the operating system release version is independently controllable.

Currently, server operating system distributions consist of different tiers from L1 to L3. Among them, L1 is based on the Linux kernel and core components, which is the most upstream "source community" version;L2 Enterprise Edition is based on L1 source community version reinforcement, providing enterprise-level technical support and services, which can be used in real business scenarios, and is a stable and reliable distribution;L3 Community Edition is further optimized based on L2 Enterprise Edition, which is a completely open source and fully open ecological distribution.

As early as 2010 Tencent launched its own operating system TengentOS. Tencent OS Server has been upgraded in terms of resource scheduling flexibility, container support, system performance and security, which is more suitable for cloud environment. It is widely adopted in Tencent servers and covers almost all Tencent businesses.

In 2021, the OpenCloudOS operating system open source community was officially born. Tencent invested in technology and became the main initiator and core technology contributor of OpenCloudOS. OpenCloudOS features a full-coverage operating system distribution from L1 to L3, is committed to developing an autonomous and controllable next-generation cloud-native operating system, and builds an open-source operating system ecosystem based on the community.

In January of this year, OpenCloudOS Stream of L1 source community was officially released, which has support in cloud native, stability, performance and other aspects. It can fully support all hardware platforms and provide upstream versions of independent innovation.

The L3 community version OC 9.0 released this time is optimized and launched based on OpenCloudOS Stream of L1 source community. It is jointly developed by Tencent and more than 20 units such as Intel, Beijing Hongqi, ZTE, Longxin and Zhongke Fangde. OC 9 uses the latest Kernel 6.1 from the upstream community, providing multi-architecture and new hardware support, multi-core performance optimization, and hybrid isolation feature enhancement. At the same time, MGLRU, Mapple Tree and other features improve memory management efficiency, with perfect Cgroup V2 support, multi-architecture hot patch support, and provide detailed tuning and system adaptation.

CTOnews.com includes OpenCloudOS 9.0 new features:

In addition to high performance, security and stability, and support for multiple hardware platforms, OC 9.0 will also provide better basic environment and service capabilities for developers and users in cloud native, big data, artificial intelligence and other fields.

Since its establishment in 2021, the OpenCloudOS community has more than 600 ecological partners, covering 11 major industries and fields such as operating system manufacturers, chip manufacturers and complete machine manufacturers. Among them, more than 60 enterprise units, universities and institutions deeply participate in the co-construction of OpenCloudOS community. Tencent, Intel, ZTE, Jiuzhou Cloud, Wangxun Technology, Green Core, Kirin Software, Jingdong Cloud, Baode, Beijing Hongqi, Feiteng, Inspur, Longxin Zhongke, OPPO, Zhongke Fangde, Zhaoxin, Tsinghua University, Peking University, etc. are all important members of the community.

At present, OpenCloudOS community and derivative versions have accumulated more than 10 million nodes, covering 12 major industries such as banking, insurance and securities, and have experienced a large number of scenarios for a long time.
