Data from research institutions show that in the first two months of this year, the number of new batteries installed in the world was about 75.2 GWh, an increase of 39% compared with the same period last year.

As for manufacturers, the agency's data show that the Ningde era, which ranks No. 1 in the world for many months in a row, is still the largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer with the highest newly installed capacity in the first two months of this year, with 25.5 GWh newly installed in two months, an increase of 34% over the same period last year, accounting for 33.9%.

After the Ningde era, BYD, which uses a large number of blade batteries, installed 13.7 GWh of electric vehicle batteries in the first two months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 122.6%, and its share also increased to 18.2%, surpassing LG New Energy to take the second place.

LG New Energy, which retreated to No. 3, accounted for 13.3% in the first two months of this year. In fourth place is Panasonic, which has long supplied batteries to Tesla, whose electric vehicle batteries were newly installed at 4.1 GWh in the first two months of this year, up 47.6 per cent from a year earlier, accounting for 5.5 per cent.

Ranked 5th and 6th are South Korean manufacturers SK On and Samsung SDI, the former with 4.1 GWh; and the latter with a year-on-year increase of 57.2 per cent to 3.7GWh, accounting for 4.9 per cent.
