Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen knsgccxr for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com March 31, according to Nokia Bell, in the 5G era, Nokia used IP core solutions and network slicing technology to help Japanese operator NTT DOCOMO (hereinafter referred to as "DOCOMO") upgrade the IP core backbone network, expand the network scale, increase network capacity, optimize and guarantee network slicing business.

Nokia announced that it will help DOCOMO upgrade its nationwide IP core backbone and implement slicing technology to host the network when it launches new 5G mobile services. This network capability enhancement will support fine-grained SLA (CTOnews.com Note: Service Level Agreement, Service level Agreement), larger network size, network capacity and flexibility, while improving energy consumption ratio and resource efficiency.

DOCOMO will deploy a new generation of Nokia 7750 SR-14s core routers with embedded FP5 network processors. The chip-based line card provides future-oriented 800GE capabilities, not only increases system capacity by three times, but also saves 75% of power compared to the previous generation of chips, and simplifies network evolution by using line cards based on FP4 and FP5 in the same system at the same time. As the bandwidth demand of DOCOMO customers increases in the future, this will extend the life of the system and enhance its sustainability.

In order to provide network slicing for its mobile services, DOCOMO will take advantage of the comprehensive segmented routing capabilities provided by Nokia's fully proven service router operating system (SR OS) to provide traffic engineering network slicing for the fine-grained SLA that DOCOMO customers need.

Nokia's Network Business platform (NSP) perfects DOCOMO's segmented routing solution through the path Computing engine (PCE), which uses real-time Telemetry technology to automatically optimize IP networks and improve SLA satisfaction. NSP will also enable DOCOMO to automatically create, guarantee, and optimize network slices based on IETF standards at the bearer level.
