An anonymous source from the MacRumors forum who accurately disclosed the iPhone 14 Pro Mobile Island feature said that the iPhone 15 Pro series phones will use an ultra-low power chip, allowing the new volume, power and "Action" solid-state buttons to work even when the phone is turned off or the battery runs out. These solid-state buttons do not actually move, but simulate pressing, long pressing and varying degrees of pressure through capacitive sensing and tactile feedback.

CTOnews.com noted that some iPhone users have expressed concern about whether the new capacitive button will work properly when using a phone case or glove. In this regard, the source revealed that the iOS 17 system will add a new sensitivity switch, so that users can adjust the sensitivity of the button according to different usage scenarios.

Manufacturers of iPhone cases usually receive design details before Apple releases a new phone to adjust the position of the keys and other external changes. Combined with the new sensitivity setting, this should avoid potential problems caused by the particularity of the new capacitive keys. These capacitive buttons will use a mechanism similar to Force Touch and Taptic Engine tactile feedback to detect pressing, long pressing, and pressing sensation.
