Samsung said that the increasing maturity of physical scaling technology, logical scaling technology and packaging technology has accelerated the development of 3D NAND, and it is expected that the capacity of a single SSD will be as high as 1PB in the next decade.

Samsung said the new technology will further reduce the size of NAND flash memory cells and increase the number of layers, so that each layer can store more data.

Samsung has promoted the launch of SSD technology in the past few years, and SSD;, which was the first to mass-produce 15.36TB in 2016, launched a 3D TLC-based 30.72TB product in 2017.

Samsung also showed 64TB SSD in 2019 and a prototype 128TB SSD based on 3D QLC NAND in 2021, but these devices are not yet in mass production.
