CTOnews.com, March 30, CTOnews.com, the 14th five-year National key Research and Development Program "Earth observation and Navigation" key Special Project "large-scale multi-task high-orbit satellite platform technology supporting in-orbit assembly" project was officially launched through an implementation plan consultation meeting in Shanghai on March 28th.

In order to meet the development demand of high-orbit multi-load integrated observation for large-scale satellite platform, the expert group in the field of earth observation and navigation put forward a plan to develop "large-scale multi-task high-orbit satellite platform supporting in-orbit assembly". The aim is to further improve the technical level of high-orbit multi-mission remote sensing satellites through the research on the overall design, dynamics and micro-vibration control, benchmark measurement and traceability, thermal management and thermal regulation of the assembly platform.

According to reports, in order to meet the development needs of high-orbit, high-resolution and multi-payload integrated observation remote sensing satellites for large satellite platforms, the project carries out multi-functional dynamic reconfiguration and verification of assemblable platforms, thermal and control, system dynamics and micro-vibration suppression, space assembly common reference precision measurement, flexible, low-power and efficient intelligent thermal control, and so on. It will lay a solid foundation for the engineering realization of China's follow-up large-scale multi-mission high-orbit satellite.

At present, space-based systems at home and abroad have basically formed the ability to observe a single element, and are gradually developing to the cooperative observation of multi-elements and multi-layers.

Officials say that the earth's multi-layer perspective observation is an important direction for the development of earth observation science in the future. using high spatio-temporal resolution to continuously measure geophysical evolution and solving interdisciplinary problems through multi-element cooperative observation are two major challenges for earth observation in the future.

Space-based multi-layer observation involves many detection elements, such as temperature, humidity, wind field and so on, and needs to be equipped with many kinds of large loads such as optics and microwaves. at the same time, the radiation and geometric deviation introduced by the existing multi-platform means due to the difference of position and pose restricts the improvement of the accuracy of quantitative remote sensing. the installation of multi-load common platform has become an important solution.

According to CTOnews.com, the project was led by the eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, jointly declared by Shanghai Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology and Donghua University, and was supported by the key R & D program of the State Ministry of Science and Technology in 2022.
