The rocket used for this launch was developed by the eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group, and the Great Wall Company, a subsidiary of the Group, provided long Erding rocket launch services for Hongtu-01 satellites as the project contractor. This is the 469th launch of the long March series of carrier rockets.

According to CCTV news, China successfully launched four Interferometric synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) satellites (Hongtu-01 satellites) from the Taiyuan Satellite launch Center using a long March 2d carrier rocket in the form of "one arrow and four satellites". The launch mission was a complete success. This group of satellites in orbit constitutes the world's first wheeled satellite formation. Four satellites are like wheels flying in space. The main star is located in the middle of the wheel, and three auxiliary stars are evenly distributed on the wheel hub.
