CTOnews.com, March 30 (Xinhua)-- Swiss startup Destinus recently announced that it will participate in a program of the Spanish Ministry of Science (Ministry of Science) to help the Spanish government develop hydrogen-powered supersonic aircraft.

Davide Bonetti, vice president of business development and products at Destinus, said: "We are pleased to receive these grants and, more importantly, the strategic path of the Spanish and European governments to promote hydrogen flight is in line with our company."

CTOnews.com learned from reports that Destinus has been testing prototype aircraft for the past few years, and its second prototype aircraft, Eiger, was successfully tested at the end of 2022.

Destinus envisioned a hydrogen-powered supersonic aircraft with a speed of 6100 kilometers per hour, reducing the flight time from Frankfurt to Sydney from 20 hours to 4 hours and 15 minutes, and the time from Frankfurt to Shanghai to 2 hours and 45 minutes, eight hours shorter than the current journey.
