March 30 news, according to foreign media reports, the actual controller of Samsung Group, the executive chairman of Samsung Electronics, is expected to meet with CEO Peter Rawlinson of Lucid, an electric vehicle manufacturer, during his visit to the United States next month to discuss related cooperation issues.

According to foreign media reports, Lee Jae-yong will accompany relevant personnel from South Korea to business people from the United States, South Korea and the United States on the 26th of next month, and a round table is expected to be held. During the meeting, Mr Lee is expected to meet with Lucid executives, possibly with CEO Peter Rawlinson.

A number of Samsung companies are involved in the automotive business, including batteries and electronic components in electric vehicles, but according to foreign media reports, senior executives of Lee Jae-yong and Lucid are expected to only discuss battery supply during the meeting, purchasing batteries from Samsung SDI and LG New Energy.

Lucid is a start-up automaker headquartered in Newark, Calif., founded in 2007. Their electric cars are designed in California and assembled at their Arizona plant. Lucid specializes in luxury electric cars, the Air electric car, which starts at $87400, but also has a strong performance, with a range of as little as 410miles and as high as 516km, or 659km to 830km.

It is worth noting that the largest shareholder of Lucid is the Saudi Public Investment Fund, which has previously discussed building a battery factory with Samsung in Saudi Arabia, but failed to build it because of some personal twists and turns encountered by Mr Lee. If Samsung SDI can reach a cooperation with Lucid, it may help to promote Samsung's cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
