The new rules make it clear that the platform will be severely punished for accounts that use false postings for improper marketing.

The new rules require that "when creators create and publish fictional content through plot interpretation, they should mark the deduction of the work in a prominent position" (copywriting includes but not limited to "fictional / deductive works, for entertainment only") to avoid misunderstanding of the works. For those accounts that do not indicate the "deductive" logo and deliberately use false swings to obtain traffic for improper marketing and mislead the public, the platform will ban them indefinitely according to the circumstances.

At the same time, Douyin made it clear in the new rules that even if the video has been marked on its own initiative, the content must still abide by the Douyin Community Convention, including but not limited to: it shall not contain content that violates public order and customs, such as false charity or false selling, and must not contain illegal or undesirable content such as vulgarity, violence, discrimination, etc. In addition, Douyin will open an appeal channel, which allows creators to appeal to the platform if they believe that their fictional works are not responsible and are punished only for unreasonable misinterpretation or other reasons.

Douyin said that the purpose of this rule update is not only to further strengthen the management of the phenomenon of false postings, but also to avoid misinterpretation caused by content creation, and to serve the needs of creators to produce and disseminate legal and compliant plot content. The above rules have been put into trial operation and will come into effect on May 1, 2023.

Relevant industry insiders said that for the simulated reality of the auction content, the current network platform in the audit and identification of greater difficulties. He said that defining creative norms and severely punishing illegal content may be the most realistic means to crack down on fictional posturing content at this stage.

Among them, the "post-release marking" function has been launched recently. The specific form is that when the platform finds that the authenticity of a work may be in doubt, it will send a notice to the creator informing the creator of the suspected existence of a "deductive pose". In order to avoid the impact of other people's interpretation on the work, the creator can choose to check a declaration such as "the work is a deductive work for entertainment only", and the relevant logo will be automatically displayed at the bottom of the video.

At present, Douyin is actively developing "pre-release marking" statements and other functions, and future creators can click and check on the release page to mark their works.

Since 2022, Douyin has launched many capabilities for false information, such as early warning, tracing, doubt (reminder), jump, fan erasure, rumor base, interception, marking, push and so on. Since January 1, 2023, Douyin has severely cracked down on false information focusing on posing, banning a total of 2648 accounts and removing 1.337 million videos.
