Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com March 29 news, according to DSCC research release, in the latest update Quarterly Advanced IT Display Shipment and Technology Report, see due to brand factory inventory accumulation and the impact of the macro market environment, high-end notebook computers show that the market growth has slowed down.

In 2022, the high-end notebook display market grew 107% year-on-year to 1690 million tablets, with Mini LED's market share rising from 32% in 2021 to 65% in 2022. OLED's market share fell to 35% from 68% in 2021. Most of the Mini LED camp is contributed by Apple, Acer and Asustek.

In recent earnings calls from Apple, Asus, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo, they all mentioned the challenges of the macroeconomic environment, with the overall PC market falling faster than expected and weak consumer and business demand. All of these brands point out that they expect inventory adjustments by the second half of 2023. From a revenue point of view, games and creative quality products have eased the decline in revenue.

By 2023, the display market for high-end notebooks is expected to be flat, with the increase in demand for OLED notebooks making up for the decline in Mini LED. Most of the OLED notebook computer field is the rigid OLED panel provided by SDC. According to the overall plan for 2023, although SDC wanted to increase the demand for IT OLED because of the downturn in the production rate of rigid OLED, brands did not give higher demand planning for 2023, and the order volume of Asustek, which buys the most, is expected to be much lower than that of last year. However, SDC is still actively negotiating with Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, LGE and Xiaomi to increase demand to ensure that the overall demand for rigid OLED notebooks in 2023 is not lower than that in 2022.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, LGD led the overall high-end notebook display market with 40 per cent, mainly from Apple's Mini LED products, followed by SDC with 32 per cent. Based on panel revenue, LGD took the lead with 49% of revenue share in the fourth quarter of 22. Looking at overall shipments in 2022, sharp accounted for 36 per cent of high-end notebook displays, followed by SDC with 35 per cent and LGDs with 27 per cent.

Although the growth of the OLED IT market in the past two years is not very radical, with the planning of the leading panel manufacturers in the G8.7 OLED panel factory, there will be a higher growth space in 2025-2026 as Apple begins to adopt OLED panels. In 2027, high-end notebooks are expected to account for 18% of the total notebook market and 46% of total revenue. And at a compound annual growth rate of 31%, the market will reach $6.7 billion by 2027 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 46.096 billion yuan).
