E Ink Yuantai Technology and Sharp started cooperation three years ago with the goal of combining their respective advantages and contributing to the carbon neutral era through the popularization of electronic paper digital posters. As a first step in this collaboration, Sharp will launch a 42-inch black and white e-paper digital poster display (ePoster) in the Japanese market in early April 2023.

According to introduction, electronic paper digital poster not only in the display of zero power consumption, but also can use reflective display technology to reflect ambient light to display images, in the brighter environment, the better the display effect.

Japan's Kyodo News Agency reported that the product can be used for in-store logos in retail stores such as clothing stores, as well as evacuation guidance at disaster sites. The estimated price is around 550,000 yen (CTOnews.com note: currently about 29,000 yuan).

Sharp's 42-inch black-and-white e-paper digital poster display (ePoster) is about 3 cm thick and weighs about 8 kg, with a lightweight design. Black and white screens require up to about 40W of power to drive ink particles when refreshed, and then continue to display even if the power is turned off. For comparison, Sharp's LCD screen of the same size consumes 115W.

Sharp said it will use its expertise in digital billboard installation and operation, as well as its service network throughout Japan, to replace paper posters in areas where it was previously difficult to install digital billboards with electronic paper digital posters.

In the future, the cooperation between the two parties will not only focus on developing large size or color electronic paper displays, but also plan to develop the electronic paper poster market and expand the global electronic paper billboard business.
