Ningde Times announced in August 2022 that it would build a battery factory in Debrecen, eastern Hungary, and formally signed a pre-purchase agreement on September 5, 2022. Siyaldo Peter, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign economy, said at the signing ceremony that this is one of the top five "greenfield investments" (new investment) in Europe in the past decade, and it is also the largest new investment project in Hungarian history. It means a lot to Hungary.

It is understood that the Ningde-era Hungarian factory covers an area of 221 hectares and is located in an industrial park in the south of Debrecen. The first plant broke ground in 2022. The total investment of the project is 7.34 billion euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 54.683 billion yuan) and the planned battery capacity is 100 gigawatt hours.

Ningde Times has already built its first European factory in Germany and started production in early January 2023. Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times, said: "We chose Germany as our first investment target in Europe because we want to bring the world's most advanced power battery technology to Germany. By establishing local power battery supply capacity in Europe, we can better meet the needs of European customers and provide more timely and effective product solutions."
