Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! According to news on the evening of March 28, Beijing time, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced today that it had launched an investigation into the front seat belt faults of 50000 Tesla Model X electric vehicles after receiving two complaints.

NHTSA said the preliminary investigation covered Model X models produced by Tesla between 2022 and 2023. The reason is that some car owners reported that when they were driving the Model Y, the seat belt connector of the front seat fell off and failed to maintain the connection with the seat belt retainer.

NHTSA also said that in the two reported accidents, there was no collision between passengers wearing seat belts and the car body.

Tesla has not yet commented on this.

One of the two problem complaints NHTSA received occurred in Larkspur, Calif. A Tesla Model X was traveling at a speed of about 10 to 15 miles per hour when a large truck parked on the side of the road suddenly opened the door and the Model X's automatic braking system was activated.

The owner said in the complaint: "due to the sudden deceleration, my upper body tumbled forward, and the impact of my body caused the seat belt anchor on the lower seat to disengage completely."

After initiating a preliminary assessment, NHTSA then has to decide whether to upgrade it to engineering analysis before it can ask Tesla to recall.

Earlier this month, NHTSA also investigated the loss of the steering wheel of 120000 Model Y electric vehicles.

NHTSA said at the time that it had received two complaints about owners driving a 2023 Model Y SUV electric car when the wheel slipped away from the steering column, the steering wheel.
