Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, March 28 (Xinhua)-- last week, British antitrust regulator Competition and Market Administration (CMA) said that Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard would not hurt competition in the game console market, removing a major obstacle to the approval of the deal.

This morning, the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) basically approved the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, confirming that the acquisition will not cause material damage to the competition, which is another victory for Microsoft. CTOnews.com is accompanied by a complete 43-page report in Japanese.

Before that, Sony SIE has repeatedly stressed that if Microsoft wins the call of Duty, it will be a big problem for PlayStation and gamers as a whole. But it is clear that their arguments did not have a material impact on the decision of the Japan Fair Trade Commission.

The acquisition has been approved by national regulators including Brazil, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Chile and Serbia, and there are rumors that Chinese regulators will also support Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. After that, the deal will also face scrutiny by regulators in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Korea and other countries.

There was news some time ago that the EU was preparing to approve without any structural remedies, while the attitude of the FTC FTC still seems uncertain, at least they are still suing Microsoft in the hope that a judge will block the acquisition. However, users generally believed that FTC could not win the case, and the agency had previously admitted that the lawsuit was just to prove their point, even if they knew they could not win.

Of course, the EU and UK CMA still have to make a final decision, which is expected to be announced by the end of April. CMA says it is still worried about the emerging cloud market, but in fact, Microsoft has signed 10-year agreements with companies such as NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Boosteroid and Ubitus to demonstrate its willingness to bring all its games, including Activision Blizzard's games, to other cloud platforms once the deal is approved.
