CTOnews.com, March 28, according to the latest report released by market research firm IDC, wearable device shipments in the Middle East and Africa were 14.89 million, up 9.8% from the same period last year; the market size was $2.86 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 19.705 billion yuan), an increase of 25.4%.

Headphones are the main driver of wearable shipments, which rose 13.6 per cent year-on-year last year, accounting for 50.6 per cent of total shipments, IDC said in a report. Apple's AirPods tops the list, while Samsung ranks second, with a market share of more than 40 per cent. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi ranked third.

The main driver of wearable revenue in the region is smartwatches, which grew 45.7 per cent year-on-year, accounting for 60.6 per cent of the total wearable market. In terms of shipments, the top three are Apple, Samsung and Huawei.
