Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, March 28 (Xinhua)-- self-driving technology company Tucson announced today the launch of a domain controller product (TDC-TuSimple Domain Controller) based on Nvidia DRIVE Orin SoC chip design, which is expected to begin mass production by the end of 2023.
According to reports, the product is a self-developed self-driving computing platform developed by Tucson, which integrates sensor input, high-performance computing, vehicle control unit (VCU) and self-driving application software to meet the needs of L2 + to L4-level self-driving computing.
After several rounds of software and hardware system iterations and actual road testing, sample B has been delivered to customers for testing and verification, and sample C is expected to start delivery in the second quarter of 2023. The mass production version will cooperate with international well-known contract manufacturers, is expected to start delivery in the Chinese market by the end of 23, and is expected to launch in Europe and the United States one after another.
By working seamlessly with different configurations of sensors and Tucson autopilot applications, TDC is able to achieve a range of autopilot solutions, summarized as follows:
ADAS: commercial vehicle L2 + and conditional L3 ADAS solutions to improve road safety and fuel efficiency
Perceptual fusion module: hardware and software modules integrate a variety of sensors to provide OEM customers with a highly customizable, low-cost full-stack sensing solution
L4 autopilot: master control + redundant computing unit to provide computing power for L4 autopilot system
Tucson said in the future that unlike most Nvidia module-based development models in the market, TDC is customized based on Nvidia Orin system-level SoC chips, which can provide more fine-grained scene technology customization capabilities and reduce the cost by about 25% compared with the module development model.
For example, TDC will support air-cooled and water-cooled cooling schemes, and provide 12V and 24V power supply support. Different combinations of solutions make customers' choices more flexible. It is worth mentioning that the power supply scheme of TDC 24V can meet the power supply requirements of domestic heavy trucks, and it is also a unique power supply design scheme for Tucson in the future.
In terms of underlying software, TDC products support AUTOSAR Classic Platform adaptation, AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform integration, and provide SOTA, FOTA solutions, built-in CMOS sensor modules and lidar drivers commonly used in the market.
The design and development of TDC products adopts the design standard of commercial vehicles, which is more stable and safe than passenger cars. TDC uses ASIL-D-level QNX operating system, and integrates ASIL-D-level Infineon TC397 chip, the overall functional security level of the product reaches ASIL-D level.
