CTOnews.com ForecastWatch, a market research agency, recently released an independent report [PDF] that professionally compares data from 25 weather forecasting providers.

The report analyzed global weather forecast data from the apps for the January-June 2022 period and found that Weather apps from Microsoft Start ranked first, outperforming others in predicting high temperatures, low temperatures, wind speeds and precipitation.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that Microsoft Weather ranked first overall, followed by The Weather Channel and Forecast/ Vaisala.

The Weather app for Microsoft Start uses multiple sources, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), to provide more comprehensive and diverse weather information to more than 200,000 locations around the world.

By aggregating data from a variety of sources, Microsoft Start Weather can create more accurate forecasts by analyzing different models and minimizing errors.
