CTOnews.com, March 25 (Xinhua)-- Apple officially announced today that its donation to the China Development Research Foundation has increased to 100 million yuan, in order to create growth opportunities for teachers and students across China. The additional RMB 50 million donation from Apple will fund the three-year Zhihui gardener project, which focuses on digital teaching in less developed areas of China and is expected to affect more than 120000 teachers and more than 2 million students. The new donation will be mainly for primary and junior high school teachers and will provide support for kindergarten and professional teachers. The goal is to better integrate digital technology into classroom teaching.

Cook talks with two rural teachers on educational exchange the donation is based on the long-standing cooperation between Apple and the China Development Research Foundation on the digital development of children in poor areas, which has been implemented since 2018 to provide quality educational opportunities for teachers and students in preschool and vocational education in rural areas. Apple first donated RMB 25 million to rural education programs in 2018 and has so far benefited hundreds of thousands of children in 11 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, including Chongqing, Gansu, Guizhou, Hebei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Xizang and Yunnan. In 2021, Apple donated another 25 million yuan to jointly launch the China Child Development Fund.

Over the years, Apple has supported related curriculum development and teacher training, assisted in promoting important research in the field of education and nutrition for minors in rural areas, and funded projects to distribute iPad and MacBook to students and teachers in these areas, including Qinghai educator Li Xia.

Li Xia is a rural kindergarten teacher in Ledu, Qinghai Province. She has been teaching in the "one village, one garden" project for many years, using iPad to teach reading and singing in class, as well as preparing teaching materials. Recently, she has been using iPad to teach children ancient Chinese poetry.

Support for the China Development Research Foundation project is one of Apple's many projects to promote education in China.
