CTOnews.com, March 23, Microsoft is pushing the latest version of the screenshot tool Snipping Tool to Windows users participating in the Canary channel test program. Instead of adding new features, this version fixes a recently discovered security vulnerability that allows cropped screenshots to be restored.

According to CTOnews.com, the latest version is 11.2302.20.0 (the current stable version is 11.2302.4.0), which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. If you do not participate in the Windows internal test program, you can also download the installation file from the Internet and update it by side-loading the application, but at your own risk.

Use the screenshot tool to capture a picture and save it

Create a copy of the image and open it in the screenshot tool

Crop this picture and save it

Compare file size, screenshot tools that do not fix vulnerabilities will keep the file size unchanged.

There is no word on when Microsoft will push the repaired screenshot tool to all users, hoping that the company will deploy new applications as soon as possible.
