TSMC's revenue growth this year is expected to be roughly the same as last year, but sales of 5/4nm chips will increase by NT $100 billion, according to industry sources. He pointed out that 28nm is the only process in which TSMC still maintains 95% close to full load, and the capacity utilization rate of 160.12nm is also about 80% in the first quarter and the second half of the year.

Due to the weakness of end markets such as smartphones and PC, as well as customer product delays and continuous inventory removal, TSMC previously said that capacity utilization of 7nm and 6nm would decline from highs in the first half of 2023, and family demand for 7nm would not pick up until the second half of 2023.

It is generally believed that due to the passing of the 7nm family learning curve, the fourth quarter and the whole year of 2022 accounted for 22% and 27% of revenue respectively, and the sharp decline in capacity utilization will significantly affect revenue and profit performance.

It is understood that due to the continuous revision of orders and production by customers, TSMC's capacity utilization rate in each process has also declined significantly since the fourth quarter of 2022. Among them, 8-inch factory Fab 3max 4 and Fab 5 estimate that capacity utilization in the second quarter will further decline to 70,75%, while Fab 6 and Fab 8 will remain at 7580%.

In terms of 12-inch wafer factories, the capacity utilization rate of Fab 14A plants dominated by 40/45nm was about 800.85% in the first half of the year, while Fab 14B plants dominated by 16/12nm changed greatly, with 750.80% at present, but it is expected to drop to 50% in May and June due to major customer corrections; Fab 15A, dominated by 28nm, is nearly fully loaded in the first quarter and dropped to 853.90% in the second quarter; while the capacity utilization rate of Fab 15B plant in the first half of the year is less than 40%, mainly 7nm.

At present, the monthly production capacity of Fab 18A is about 130,000 tablets, and the capacity utilization rate of 3nm Fab 18B is about 75% in the first half of the year. In the first half of the year, the monthly production capacity and capacity utilization of 3nm Fab 18B increased month by month, with a capacity utilization rate of about 80,85% in the second quarter, about 45,000 tablets per month, and 60,000 tablets in the second half of the year.

Tuyuan Pexels in February this year, TSMC's consolidated revenue was about NT $163.174 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 36.877 billion yuan), down 18.4% from the previous month and an increase of 11.1% over the same period last year. The cumulative revenue of the camp from January to February was about 363.225 billion yuan (about 82.089 billion yuan), an increase of 13.8 percent over the same period last year.

In January this year, TSMC collected about NT $200.05 billion (currently about 45.011 billion yuan) in January 2023, an increase of 3.9% month-on-month and 16.2% year-on-year.

Wei Zhe-Jia, president of TSMC, has said that due to the downturn in the PC and smartphone markets and customer inventory adjustment, the utilization rate of TSMC's 7nm and 6nm capacity is no longer at the highs of the past three years and is estimated to take several quarters to adjust. Demand is expected to pick up in the second half of this year.
